More facts about lakes
and wildlife coming soon...
|
To be clear about a "lake association"
the following few points are presented: |
 |
you do not have to join |
 |
no one will sign you up automatically |
 |
no one is attempting to take away any of your "rights" |
 |
there were no
conflicts or mean-spirited confrontations at the 2007 meeting |
 |
the recommendation to organize property owners comes from a concern
for the lake environment, including the humans who dwell here |
 |
as a group we will be better prepared to have an impact in the event
that an entity makes plans to alter the environment in an adverse
manner... such as establishing a public boat landing, adverse noise
from airport flight patterns, lake stocking, multi-family dwellings
("not that
there's anything wrong with multi-family dwellings"
see Seinfeld episode) |
 |
potential for neighborly interaction is enhanced IF anyone chooses
to do so |
 |
educational opportunities are available for a better appreciation
and understanding of the Soo Lake environment |
 |
fish tagging, animal sighting documentation, bird watching, invasive
species awareness all can be augmented through group vigilance and
communication |

The 2009 summer property owners'
meeting was held at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 30th,
at Bill and Mary Padgett's home,
3852 Sheep Ranch Road.
The
2009 annual meeting was well attended and we discussed several
matters of mutual concern for all the lake's caretakers.
Special thanks go out to Bill and Mary and their children for being
so generous with their time and help in arranging the meeting and
providing some tasty snacks! Mary Lewandowski put a lot of
time and attention into the meeting topics and gathered important
information about lake/environmental quality. Mike Backes and
others made suggestions and presented data about maintaining the
unique quality and ambiance of the Soo Lake environment.
We will have a blog spot soon so that updates and input from can be
presented and read more efficiently. Feel free to say
"Hello" to others on the lake or post a comment,
criticism, or suggestion. We're all "in this
together" so cultivating a sense of community...even if more
virtual than physical... is of benefit to all of us who have the
good fortune to spend time on this little gem of a lake. A
spring walleye spawning improvement project is planned!
Details will be posted after ice out.

We are looking
for someone to volunteer to host the 2010
"get-together"
and then we can set a date that works best for everyone. |
